Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU) was founded in 1993 and has grown into one of Germany’s premier public research institutions, renowned for its cutting-edge expertise in engineering, natural sciences, computer science, and medicine. Located in Magdeburg—the green, historical capital of Saxony-Anhalt along the Elbe River—OVGU welcomes thousands of international students to its compact, modern campus.

To support international high school graduates whose qualifications require bridging, OVGU works closely with the MDWi Studienkolleg Foundation Year. Offering targeted T-Course (Engineering/Tech), W-Course (Business/Economics), and M-Course (Medicine/Sciences) streams, MDWi delivers intensive subject-matter and German language preparation. Upon passing the state-recognized assessment exam (FSP), students gain direct access to tuition-free Bachelor’s degree programs across Germany.
